We had our breakfast near the Excise Dept. check post. Our vehicle was stopped by the officials as all the inhabitants were youngsters. After a casual check of the vehicle for any sort of “theertha’s” they let us move on. ;) Even though the roads to the top were quite good, driving was difficult due to the deep valleys on one side. A slight mistake and you would end up in places where humans would never want to go. :( Ares where landslides had occurred earlier were marked out. Have to appreciate the person responsible for this. :) As we kept on moving higher and higher, fog started to decrease the visibility. About 1-2 km’s from the top most point, we decided to walk the remaining distance. :) Everyone got down the vehicle, and told the driver to take it to the top. We started our walk to the top. :) The walk was one good experience. You could feel the fog on across your face. The sun, occasionally peeping and making it warm. Wonderful sceneries in the deep valleys. Cows grazing looked as small as ants. We were nearing the highest point in Karntaka. :) After series of photo sessions, finally we reached the point, after which we had to climb steps to reach the top most point. All vehicles had to be parked here itself. Quite nice arrangements have been made for vehicle parking. We started climbing the steps. Somehow groups got formed and different groups started climbing the steps at different speeds. I reached the peak first, followed by Priyesh. Next to reach was Dushyanth. Forgot the order in which others reached. :( On the top you have a well maintained temple. You could look at the Bababudangiri ranges from the top of the peak. The peak provides you with such top class scenic beauty that you feel the 460 steps climb is worth its every drop of sweat! (Of course you dont sweat in those temperatures). We ventured out of the temple compound( after wearing our shoes, as the a board there demanded us to remove the footwear for even entering the compound) and came across two caves. Information about the cave is, that its about 52 km’s deep and leads you to the bottom of the peak. We skipped checking the genuineness of the information and got back after just venturing a small distance in the cave, due to absence of flashlights. :( We finally decided to descend downwards at about 11 and reached the bottom soon. Just as we reached the bottom, Dushyanth and Manjunath got into some frenzy and started scaling another smaller peak nearby. Everyone followed them to the other peak following a muddy path formed due to previous trekkers. On the top, everyone got involved into burst photo sessions. We wound up in about 30 mins and again came down. People got some more photographs clicked. We headed to our vehicle.

Our next destination was Bababudangiri. We reached it around 12 noon. Datthatreya Peeta was closed due to some construction work. We moved forward to Manikhyadhara falls. Most of the people wanted to have a swim. The obstruction to this event was caused due to this sign board. We couldnt decide whether we surely need to throw our clothes there or is it dependent on our choice. Anyways, none of us dared to swim, and we started walking dejectedly. :( Fun though was induced by our own ancestors. A monkey snatched someone’s inner wear :P and refused to part with it. The monkey was stubborn and we had to return without the “thing”. :( As we headed out of Bababudangiri, we came across a lake. Since our aspirations of swim hadn been satisfied, we decided to full fill it here. Reddy was the first person to venture, followed by Rakesh and finally me. The water was ice cold as it was stationery, but very clean. :) Someone even tasted it and told its sweet. None of the others tried the taste. :P Eventually everyone except Wilson were in the water. After playing around for sometime we dried off ourselves and returned to the van. It was already 2 pm. Swim had made most of us hungry. :( We were dejected to find out that there was no proper place to have food around. So, we decided to have it in Kemmangundi and proceeded with our journey. The road was horrible, but our anthyakshari game kept us unmindful about the road. New songs were created, extra sentences were added to songs, with the only intention of not loosing. Just about 1km behind Kemmangundi, we stopped for having tea.

There were these 2-3 roadside stalls which sold you tea, biscuits and omelettes. The attraction of the place was the dogs. They demanded share in everything you ate. ;) We named them Andrew Symonds, Gilchrist and few other names also and headed towards Kemmangundi hill station. We reached there by 4 and went to visit a view point. The view was fine. A few pictures were clicked and we headed back to the vegetarian canteen for our lunch. Had lunch and went to the nearby Nisarga homestay and booked ourselves a room. It again was a big one with 9 beds. The rooms were cheap and well maintained. We cancelled the visit to Z point as it already was dark and we were not ready to get attacked by leaches. :P We decided to call it a day and everyone settled themselves in the room. :) We arranged a campfire for the night between 10 pm and 12 pm.

Later some of us went back to the canteen to have dinner. When we returned it was almost time for the campfire, but it was a disappointed since the campfire was not a properly organised one. We had to move very close to the fire due to space constraints and the smoke irritated the eyes. Nevertheless, we had fun. We returned to our rooms by midnight. Most of them went off to sleep. Reddy, Rakesh, Jayram and Chetan chose to play cards. I chose to watch the game, due to my lack of knowledge of any card game. :( Even I lost interest looking at the game, and decided to call it a day. They played around till 2 pm, and some talking by Rakesh made me woke up. So we decided to wake everyone up at 2 pm in the night. :P One by one, everyone was made to get up by hook or crook. The different expressions by different people was extremely funny. :P Finally everybody slept off at 3 am, without any promises for the next day.

Quite interestingly, Andrew Symonds and Gilchrisht were found waiting tor us outside our room in the night. They wanted to show their love for the biscuits we offered them and most probably wanted to guard our room also. Sadly Symonds had to fight with another dog(mostly Bhajji). Disappointingly Bhajji lost. It had to happen since our Symonds was very strong and well built. :P Unfortunately, have no pics of any of the dogs. :(

Some pictures:

Mullayangiri

<img style="border-bottom: 0px;
After 4 semesters of engineering, it was time for spending time, visiting places. After a lot of yes/no, finally 12 guys agreed to be a part of it. Chikmagalur was our main destination.
Members: Jayaram, Wilson, Thejas, Amar, Manjunath, Navin, Reddy, Rakesh, Priyesh, Chetan, Dushyanth and myself.
We decided to have a three day trip starting from 17th and thought we could visit Chikamagalur and nearby places. The vehicle was booked, plans worked out and we were all set to proceed.
Day 1 – 17/09/2010
We were supposed to be out of Bangalore by early morning, but unfortunately we had our first hindrance. :( Reddy and Rakesh dint have hot water to bath due to power cut. So we were forced to postpone the time of departure by around 1 extra hour. Not loosing hope, we started our journey. The vehicle started from Magadi Road picking up Jayram and Dushyanth. Next pickup point was UVCE, KR Circle. Priyesh, Navin, Rakesh and Reddy got in. I got in with Chetan at CBI, Bellary Road. Finally we deviated into outer ring road and had our last pick up point at BEL circle where all the rest got in. We reached Tumkur Road, took a left after Nelmangla to get into NH-48 and were moving away from the frenzy of B’lore. We were out of B’lore by about 8.15 AM.

Next, we stopped for breakfast at Kunigal. The preferred breakfast was tatte idli, though there were some takers for pulav and poori. :) With our stomach’s full we continued in NH-48 towards Mangalore. NH-48 is in good condition. The only disappointment were the numerous deviations due to the road widening work Our first destination was Manjarabad fort. You come across this on NH-48 just after Sakleshpur, just in the beginning of Shiradi Ghats.

Few steps to climb and you would reach the fort. The fort looked awesome, covered with wonderful views from all side. The area looked clean, well maintained and actually had security. We were not allowed to climb the walls, which had valleys on the other side. A guy about 50 year old, with an assistant half his age made sure that no one ventured near the walls. :) The funny moment was Reddy scaring Rakesh with the help of a window. :P An unforgettable moment for everyone present. We spent some more time venturing into different caves, clicking pictures in burst mode and were back into our vehicle by 1 PM. Next we had lunch at Hotel Adithya, Sakleshpura. Nice food!! :) We took a deviation from NH-48 and moved towards Belur. The road was not so great.
We reached Belur by 2.30 PM. As we stepped into the temple, guides leapt onto us, but we refused anyone’s help. We moved about the outer circle looking at the wonderful carvings and also clicking pictures in different poses competing with the poses given by the shila balikes. :P We went inside the temple. Paid Rs. 20/- for getting a light switched on to display the ceiling which had zillions of carvings inside it. The light was also focussed on a pillar, which according to the person operating the light had all the carvings present in the temple.
As we were leaving the premises of the temple, a group of foreigners had assembled. The guide was explaining in English. A translator translated that to some unknown language.A feeling of pride was induced into me. The happiness lasted only for a few minutes, because I remembered about something I had witnessed earlier. The picture would explain better! This is the India we display to our visitors. :( The board is surely edited by some literate, since for an illiterate it would make no sense, with the presence or absence of the word “Don't”. Such things present the sorry picture of our country. When the citizens cant present their country’s tradition in the right manner, its seriously shameful. :(
We left the calmness of Belur and moved towards Halebid. The road was pretty good. A 30 mins drive and we reached Halebid at about 4 in the evening. We strolled about the area, clicking photographs and having fun. :) We moved on to the nearby park and spent some time there speaking rather very nonsensical stuff, which made absolutely no sense but wonderful fun! :) We decided to get back to the vehicle as darkness had started to engulf us. The moment we stepped out, there were a gang of women waiting to sell us different items like lamps, Ganesha’s made from stone. Quite a few of us obliged to them and after lot of bargaining, some decent amount of business did happen. Never expected others to buy them, but rarely do things happen according to your expectations. The best part of the whole incident was the reduction in prices by other vendors when a person would buy from one vendor.
Finally with memories of the two most exotic temples of Karnataka, we headed to Chikmagalur. We reached by 8.30. Checked into Soundharya Residency. They provided us with a single large room with about 10 beds. There was not much rush since it was not the season for visting After freshening up, we separated ourselves into two groups. The veggies and the non-veggies. The veggies had a satisfying dinner at Soundharya itself. :) We were back to our rooms to catch the RCB match. :) Everyone except Jayram, Wilson and myself were busy in playing some card game and watching the match. We 3 were doing some planning for the next day. Finally by about 12 everyone was in deep sleep, with the promise of getting ready by 6, the next morning. :P

This post will help you in this regard.

You can view my previous blog post regarding how to configure WA3002G4 for internet access using PPPoE mode here.

1. Open your browser, preferable IE and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar to access your modem. Type the username and password both as admin, and continue to the Device Info page.

Note: If you have configured your modem properly, you will be assigned a Default Gateway.

2. Next click on the Wireless option in the left panel. Here you can encounter 2 cases.

Case 1: Wireless may have been enabled in your modem.

You will get the following window:

Another check you could make is whether the the light under the WLAN text in your modem is on. If both are happening, then the wireless in your modem is on. Set all the fields as in the image. You can move on to the next step.

Case 2: Wireless is disabled in your modem.

Your browser will show the following window.

The WLAN light in the modem will be off. In this case you just check the Enable Wireless option. Click on Save/Apply and wait for the page to reload and you will get a page as in Case 1. The WLAN light will turn on. Set the fields to as in the image. Proceed to Step 3.

3. We need to secure our wireless connection, so that no one else uses it. You can have higher security, about which I am not discussing here. I will only mention about the basic security measure.

Click on Security, below Wireless in the left panel.

Now select Enabled in the WEP Encryption drop down menu. You will get the following window.

Now choose your Encryption Strength as you wish, either 64-bit or 128-bit. Choose Network Key as 1. Enter the Network Key in the Network Key 1 box. The number of characters are predefined according to the strength. Please note the rules in the bottom of the screen and type the exact no. of characters. Next click Save/Apply.

4. You will get the following page. I have considered the Network Key as xxxxx. Your browser will display the Network Key you typed previously.

Now you can close your browser.

5. Turn on wireless in your laptop/PC.

You will notice the wireless icon in your taskbar. Right click on it to and select View Wireless Connections. Then you will see the DSL wireless service provider with name UTSTarcom. Just click on that and type in Network Key what you have given before then just click Connect. You would have established wireless network connection with your router. I cannot provide an image for this step due to hardware issues.

Hope this method works fine. Better securities can be obtained by changing Network Authentication type.

Please post your queries.

.
Manoj Bhathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17891867007655308902noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3588108220967953981.post-48954434219687673352009-10-09T20:44:00.001+05:302009-10-09T20:44:18.803+05:30BMTC and their whole stages theory.

BMTC has their own way of setting their fare, i.e. through stages. For example, a bus route is divided into number of stages and rates are fixed accordingly. The reason, I dedicated a post to it was the following experience I had.

Case 1:

Bus route used for travel: Vajra 195; route: Shivajinagar to Chandra Layout (via KBS,Vijaynagar).

I boarded the bus at KBS and bought a ticket to Chandra Layout. The conductor gave me a ticket of Rs. 15. The whole experience was nice(that being my first time in Vajra). The bus had automatic transmission, but still the driver couldn't drive properly. Lot of jerks were experienced by me. One good point though was he didn't have to stop the buses at most stops, since everyone would consider Vajra something very costly and would wait for normal buses. This would make the journey faster, say by 5 minutes. Everything went on well, accomplished the desire of travelling in Vajra once. Being the owner of the student pass(another senseless idea), I wouldn’t find travelling in Vajra economical.

Case 2:

Bus route used for travel: Vajra 333T; route: Marathalli Bridge, BDA complex(Nagarbhavi) (via KBS,Vijaynagar, Chandra Layout)

Dismissing my economical ways of travelling in normal buses, I boarded the bus at KBS. This was a newly launched route at that time. So when I asked for the ticket, the conductor demands Rs. 18. I argued that the fare in Vajra 195 is Rs. 15. He says that the stage in 195 is Chandra Layout, whereas the stage in 333T is Nagarbhavi, so the difference. I say I travel the same distance, in the same route but pay different rates. Why is this so? He says, that you have to ask BMTC. I pay him after scrutinizing a piece of paper, which had all the listings of different stages and different fares. So I concluded that you can travel a same route but pay different fares for them, in the same class of service, since your stages are not same.

I think the whole process is wrong. Above all BMTC fares are costly. I pay Rs. 5 for travelling 3 km here. Whereas in my hometown, where private buses are mode of transport I also pay Rs. 5. So what is the use of Govt. transport. Also, I may get a concession in my hometown if I travel in the same bus daily, which would amount to Rs. 3, making it cheaper. Of course, passes are provided by BMTC. They are also costly. A daily pass cost Rs. 32. 32 is costly and senseless pricing. The conductor and the passenger fight for Rs. 2 change. BMTC need a complete revamp on their pricing. This is what I feel. But I guess they are busy introducing new buses, new models of buses in the same old routes.
Manoj Bhathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17891867007655308902noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3588108220967953981.post-28759659526023983082009-10-07T08:04:00.001+05:302009-10-07T08:04:59.398+05:30How to make people vote???Maharashtra has the answer.

This article is influenced by the following piece of news, I read in TOI(Bangalore) edition. Click here to read the article. The Election Commission had recommended a total shutdown of Maharashtra on Oct.13(day of polling), so that people wouldn't have anything better to do and would come and vote. Maharashtra Govt. acted on this idea and has implemented a total shutdown on Oct. 13. All shops, malls, multiplexes, offices, commercial establishments, residential hotels, restaurants, theatres and industrial establishments will be closed on the day and only essential services will be available for use.

I found this whole exercise a very good one, though it may not lead public thronging to the booths, it may influence a sizeable amount of voters to come and vote, since they wouldn't have anything better to do. This will help all the owners of the commercial establishments to easily access their right to vote. Of course, a day of closure may lead to huge losses, but our country has come to a state, where people have to be coerced to cast a vote, even though it being one of their rights. If this idea can change Maharashtra’s poor performance in polls(voting percentage), we would have a Govt. which will be elected by nearly 70-75% of the people. Even though the Govt. may contain the same useless ministers, it would mean that 70-75% people consider them less useless then the others. This is better than 40-45% of the total population, considering a selected few(politicians) as useful.

The Election Commission must come up with such new ideas, for better polls in India. This method may or may not improve the political situation of the country, but will surely make a larger percentage responsible for it.

What are your views on this? Please Comment.

Note: 1. People of Maharashtra, please GO AND VOTE.

         2. The templates where not in proper condition and a lot of other things. I got a sudden interest in reviving it. So put up a new template, even had many blog posts half way and saved in drafts(though they dint materialize). Finally I thank Microsoft for providing me with Windows Live Writer. When I started Windows Live Writer, I was happy to see a software which lets you do almost everything on your blog. I guess, these offerings from Microsoft are to compete with Google to regain the online market. The tool looks good. I hope to review it in full in the near future. Look forward for it. Those who are interested in it, download it using Microsoft Update, or directly from Microsoft web site.

Have you used it? The movie even though being a sequel is better than its prequel. The animation has improved a better story, more penguin action and a very good soundtrack. DreamWorks Studios are fast conquering the animation market with their movies.

Rating: 4/5

2.Dasvidaniya
This movie being inspired from the Hollywood flick, The Bucket List, made a good watch even though it lacked a star cast. Vinay Pathak is the lead actor and also produces a movie for the first time. The movie has a good script, excellent acting by Vinay Pathak. The movie is Vinay all the way. Music by Kailash Kher satisfies your ears(songs Alvida and Mumma are good ones). Low budget movies ruling Bollywood nowadays.

Rating: 4/5

3. Shoot On Sight
Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Gulshan Grover, as the main characters the movie is a good watch. Shoot On Sight is a story based on Operation Kratos, the police "shoot-to-kill" policy applied to suspected suicide-bombers after the 7 July 2005 London bombings. The story and acting are the winners here. Naseeruddin Shah and Gulshan Grover steal the show with their
excellent acting. A better script would have made it a better watch.

Rating: 3/5

4. The Last Lear
Directed by Rituparno Ghosh with Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Arjun Rampal, Divya Dutta, Shefali Shah and Jisshu Sengupta as the star cast the movie is a must watch for film buffs who like this genre of movies. The script is based on Utpal Dutt's play Aajker Shahjahan. Amitabh Bachchan has done a wonderful job in the movie. Other actors also chip in with good acting. The chemistry between Arjun Rampal and Big B is good.

Rating: 3.75/5

5. Slumdog Millionaire
Dany Boyle has just potrayed the real India in most simple manner. The star cast has lot of names since 9 actors have acted for 3 roles in different parts of the movie. The movie has some exceptional acting by the child actors. Music by ARR is good(Have listened to better ones from the Maestro). The movie is a bit of overhyped according to me. Its basically a Bollywood masala packed in a Hollywood cover.

Rating:3.5/5Manoj Bhathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17891867007655308902noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3588108220967953981.post-75717721810927016662008-06-18T22:42:00.003+05:302008-06-18T22:59:28.270+05:30TN Seetharam is back with ಮುಕ್ತ ಮುಕ್ತ .After four months of ಅತೀ ಶೀಘ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ Mutha... Muktha was finally aired on ETV Kannada at 9:30PM on Monday, 16Th June 18, 2008. For those whom the first sentence doesn’t make sense let me elaborate it. Muktha.. Muktha is a sequel to the television serial Muktha which ended on 15th November 2006.
The serials are directed by TN Seetharam(TNS). One of the few daily sops director whose gains immense respect from his TV audience. His other super hit serials were Mayamruga, Manvanthara and recently Muktha. He is also famous for his court scenes. More information about him can be gained here.
Muktha.. Muktha’s title video and song were refreshing. The title video was really a good one. One thing missing in the title song is C. Ashwath’s voice, but he still retains his position as the composer. As always Ashwath doesn’t disappoint you. The music is good.
Then TN Seetharam had a few words to share. He also agreed about his films failure (Meera Madhava Raghava).
After three days of watching the serial I would like to preview the serial even though TNS is man of surprises. The serial will be mainly focusing on problems like SEZ’s, field test conducted by doctors apart from usual problems like politics, poverty, irresponsibility. As usual problems faced by women will be highlighted. TNS seems to be adding a bit of comedy to his serials this way around. For the first time he has appeared in the first scene of his serials. The number of hidden messages have increased.
I hope he gives us one of his masterpieces again, as he has done always. Hope to see a lot of court scenes.
All the Best to Muktha.. Muktha.
Show timings: Mon-Fri 9.30PM, on ETV Kannada.
Comments are Welcomed.Manoj Bhathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17891867007655308902noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3588108220967953981.post-28032614119650345922008-05-21T11:32:00.002+05:302008-06-04T22:09:09.760+05:30Google Trick(Its very good)Bored of searching images from google.
